The ideal time to visit Leh Ladakh is from May to September, when the weather is pleasant and roads remain open. During this period, travelers can easily explore Pangong Lake and other major attractions without heavy snowfall disruptions.
A 5 to 7-day itinerary is perfect to cover major highlights like Leh local sightseeing, Sham Valley, monasteries, and Pangong Lake while allowing proper acclimatization at high altitude.
Yes, acclimatization is very important when visiting Leh due to its high altitude (around 11,500 ft). It is recommended to rest on the first day and avoid heavy activities to prevent altitude sickness.
Yes, Chang La Pass is generally safe and accessible during the tourist season. However, due to its high altitude (17,350 ft), travelers should avoid long stops and stay hydrated during the journey.
Yes, Inner Line Permits (ILP) are required for Indian tourists, while foreign nationals need a Protected Area Permit. These are usually arranged by your tour operator.
At Pangong Lake, you will find camps and basic guesthouses. Facilities are simple due to the remote location, but they offer a unique and memorable stay close to nature.
You should carry warm clothes (even in summer), comfortable shoes, sunscreen, sunglasses, basic medicines, and personal essentials. Weather in Ladakh can change quickly, especially near high-altitude places like Pangong Lake.
